Alcan Packaging sells Turkish films business
Alcan Packaging has continued with its plans to develop its core flexible packaging business with the sale of its Rotopas unprinted PVC films business.
Istanbul-based Rotopas, which employs 51 people, manufactures PVC stretch and PVC shrink films for industrial and domestic use.
The business will join Yildiz Holding's portfolio of companies that includes food and beverages, confectionery and dairy businesses as well as packaging, real-estate, telecommunications, information technology and logistics businesses.
"The Rotopas business will become an integral part of Yildiz Holding and benefit from its production and distribution volume," said Alcan Packaging Food Europe president Michael Cronin.
"This divestment is also in line with Alcan Packaging's strategic objective to focus on developing its core flexible packaging business in Turkey and throughout Europe."
Alcan Packaging Food Europe, which manufactures flexible packaging for the food and beverages market, employs 6,500 people in 31 plants across 18 countries.
Alcan Packaging is a business unit of the UK-headquartered mining group Rio Tinto.
