Sonoco achieves sustainable forestry certification
Global packaging company Sonoco has received certification from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) for the management of its 56,490 acres of forest.
Sonoco has been awarded certification for its work in practicing sustainable forestry, protecting water resources, promoting and protecting wildlife habitats and more.
Senior vice president of Sonoco Recycling and Internal Supply Jim Bowen said: "The certification certainly validates our commitment to sustainable forestry practices and reflects the hard work and dedication of the employees who made it happen."
SFI certification requires companies to pass annual audits, provide proper record keeping and written documentation, interviews and field site inspections.
Sonoco is a $4bn global manufacturer of packaging with more than 300 operations in 35 countries and serving customers in some 85 nations.
