Marsh Labels invests in digital printing
A West Sussex label printer has made its first step into digital printing by investing in an HP Indigo press and the UK's first Digicon Lite converting unit.
Marsh Labels has bought the HP Indigo ws4050 to meet high demand for its products that include hot-foil labels as well as litho and flexo printed labels.
The seven-colour HP press will be able to handle bar codes, batch numbers and sell-by dates using its variable data capability.
Marsh Labels’ director Gary Burnley said that it had handled digital label jobs for customers for a number of years, but subcontracted the printing.
"Having our own press and finishing capabilities means that we control the process, the production and ensure quality," he said.
Marsh has also bought the UK’s first Digicon Lite converting unit from HP partner AB Graphic International that will provide flood varnishing, UV curing, semi-rotary die-cutting, slitting and rewinding.
Burnley described the investment as a big step for a small company.
"The combination of the HP Indigo press and the Digicon Lite gives us not only the ability to meet out customers’ growing requirements for digital print, but also the opportunity to grow our own business by providing a more complete and competitive service," he said.
