Tesco to cut CO2 with pallet plan
Tesco will be the first retailer to use the new Managed Recovery pallet recovery service from CHEP, the pallet and container specialist.
Under the new scheme, suppliers delivering loaded pallets to Tesco will no longer have to receive in exchange the same number of empty pallets. They will instead notify CHEP of the delivery.
Tesco transport director Alex Laffey estimated that the system would eliminate CO2 emissions equivalent to supplying more than 2,300 homes with electricity for a year.
