Central Bottling International consults on cutting third of workforce
Processing and packing equipment exporter Central Bottling International (CBI) has told staff it could make up to 45 redundancies as a result of the downturn.
CBI, which manufactures and supplies filling, processing and packaging equipment for the food, beverage and packaging industries, said that 45 jobs out of a total workforce of 133 could be cut.
A spokesman for the Doncaster-based company attributed the job cuts to the downturn in the global economy.
"Because of the global recession, it has a bigger impact on us as we export all over the world, mostly in the Eastern hemisphere," the spokesman said.
CBI told Packaging News that it has entered into consultation with its employees.
"We are looking now in this consultation period at the restructure of the business to minimise any redundancies," added the spokesman.
CBI, which has been in business for more than 25 years, specialises in providing bottling, processing and packaging equipment and services to the food and drink industries.
