Clondalkin US arm acquires Puerto Rican printer

US pharmaceutical packaging specialist Keller Crescent has acquired a Puerto Rican label and insert printer for an undisclosed sum.

Keller Crescent, which is part of Clondalkin's specialist packaging division, has bought Lehigh Press in Juncos to sit alongside its own carton manufacturing operations to expand its presence in Puerto Rico.

Chief executive Bill Mitchell said Lehigh was a great fit for the company. "The acquisition reinforces our existing healthcare strategy in those markets that are key to our customers. We have ambitious expansion plans in Puerto Rico and acquiring Lehigh will help fast track them."

North Carolina-based Keller specialises in printed folded cartons, labels and technologies such as track and trace for the pharmaceuticals and healthcare markets.

Joe Moynihan, chief executive of Clondalkin Group North America, said: "This acquisition complements our growth strategy and is a clear sign of our commitment to service customers locally."

Irish firm Clondalkin has more than 40 operations in Europe and North America generating sales of more than $1.2bn.
